Gun Permit Application Process

First Steps

• Go to the Indiana State website to start your application: in.gov/isp/2829.htm.
• Read and follow the instructions online to begin your application.
• Schedule your inkless/electronic fingerprint process with IdentoGO on the Fingerprinting and Enrollment Services Page.
  • There is an additional fee by IndentoGo for this service (approx. $12.95).

Local Process

After completing your initial application and fingerprints, you will need to complete the below steps to finish up the process. If you have any questions, please call us at 317-804-3200.

• Apply on WeConnect: Gun Permit Application
• Log in or create an account. Account guide (PDF)
• The following information will need to be provided for the background check:
  • Full Name
  • Gun Permit Application number (9-digit number)
  • Drivers' License Number
  • Date of Birth
  • Home Address
  • Phone number
  • A Copy of your Driver's License (photo or PDF is acceptable)
    • You must be a resident of Westfield and your address must be current on your ID and match what is on your gun permit application or it may be rejected by the State.
  • A copy of your Fingerprint Receipt (if provided)(photo or PDF is acceptable)
• No State or Local Fees as of July 1, 2021

For new applications, if there are no mistakes on your application and you have no criminal history, your license should be issued within 60 days from the time your local authority submitted your application to ISP. Duplicate Firearms License

To obtain a duplicate, a hard plastic copy of your license or change of name or address:

• Go to the Indiana State Police Firearms Licensing Website.
• Click "Sign In" at the "Duplicate/Status Updates" section of the home page.
  • Log in or create an account.
• Once you are logged in, you will be on your status screen. Here, you can either request a duplicate copy of your license or update the name or address information of your current license.
  • Click the "Request" button to begin the process of a duplicate copy or to request a name or address change. You will answer a few questions and then be asked to pay a $20 fee for the duplicate license. There is no fee for a name or address change.

Additional Fees

All NEW license applications incur a $12.95 fee for IdentoGo Electronic Fingerprinting. Additionally, ALL license applications incur an IN.gov processing fee that varies according to the license type.

Note 1 Fee exemption applies only to the initial license application. All duplicate licenses incur a fee of $20.
