The powers and duties of the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) are established by state statute. The BZA, 1) hears and decides special exceptions to the zoning ordinance, and 2) authorizes variances from the terms of the ordinance. They may also serve in an adjudicative capacity hearing appeals to decisions made by anyone charged with the enforcement of the ordinance. BZA meetings offer a public forum for community input.
Agendas will be posted online by 5 pm on Thursday before the meeting.
Indiana law prohibits any person from communicating with BZA Board members before the Public Hearing with the intent to influence the Board members on a matter pending before the Board.
