Hometown Heroes

The Hometown Hero Program was established in July 2021 and was initially proposed by now-Mayor Scott Willis. The program aims to care for those who put their lives on the line for the community. Mayor Willis was motivated to create the program after experiencing firsthand the impact of service to the nation on families. He spent 12 months in Iraq, leaving behind his wife and two young children in Westfield. “This program is a small token of appreciation to show our residents who put their lives on the line for our community the appreciation we have for their sacrifice,” said Mayor Willis.

To qualify for the program, the family must live in Westfield and identify as city public safety personnel on a service-related disability or immediate family of military personnel serving in a branch of our country’s armed forces and currently deployed out of state. The household is eligible for the program for the duration of deployment.
