Bike Patrol

Since its inception in 2008, the Westfield Police Bike Team has been a welcomed presence at not only city functions, but also in local neighborhoods, on the city trail systems, and in city parks. The Bike Team, now 25 members strong, was created to encourage a better relationship with the public. Approachability is a benefit of the team; making officers more accessible, and providing them the opportunity to receive important feedback on activity in the community.

Bike Officers have the same responsibilities as Officers in vehicles. Bike Officers routinely answer calls for service and maintain a commitment to the city Safety goal. Since its beginning, the Bike Team has been a success by increasing the level of police visibility throughout the city. The Bike Team is a frequent presence at special events occurring in the city and will continue to be utilized to provide quality service to Westfield residents and visitors.

All Bike Officers must complete and pass a rigorous training course on braking, evasive maneuvers, dismounts, stair riding, slow speed drills, and various other skills.
