Patrol Beats
To ensure consistent and personalized engagement, the city is divided into four police beats, with two dedicated officers assigned to each beat. These officers focus on community policing, getting to know residents, understanding neighborhood concerns, and working proactively to keep Westfield safe. This deployment model ensures equitable patrol coverage, faster response times, and stronger engagement with residents and businesses throughout the city.

School Resource Officers (SROs) – Within the Patrol Division is our SRO team. Operating through an extremely close relationship with the Westfield Washington School District, our SRO’s are solely dedicated to our public schools for safety and security. The SRO’s maintain a visible law enforcement presence on school campuses, ensuring school safety and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and families. The SRO’s also assist with threat assessments, investigations, and educational presentations.
Traffic Unit – The Westfield Police Department Traffic Unit is dedicated to promoting roadway safety, enforcing state traffic laws and local City Ordinances, and reducing vehicle collisions through education, enforcement, and proactive initiatives. Our officers in this unit utilize advanced equipment and data-driven statistics to identify high-risk traffic areas and respond effectively to community concerns. The Traffic Unit is also responsible for the deployment and strategic placement of the Driver Feedback Speed Radar Signs, which are consistently rotated and placed throughout the City. Through visible presence and targeted enforcement, the Traffic Unit plays a vital role in ensuring safe travel for all who live, work or visit the City of Westfield.
Community Service Officer (CSO) –
The Westfield Police Department’s Community Service Officer (CSO) plays a vital support role in non-emergency public safety services and serves as a visible and approachable presence within the community. The CSO is a non-sworn position, who assists sworn officers by handling a variety of duties that enhance the department’s efficiency and service to the community.
Responsibilities include traffic control, vehicle lockouts, parking enforcement, animal complaints, VIN checks, golf cart registrations and speed sign deployments. By managing these non-criminal calls for service, the CSO helps free up patrol officers to focus on emergency calls and proactive policing efforts. This position is essential to the department’s mission of delivering professional and responsive service to the residents and visitors of Westfield.
