Public Relations
The Westfield Police Department regularly participates in community activities. Some of our yearly highlights include Jake Laird Community Day, Coffee with a Cop, Breakfast with a Cop, Caring Christmas Project, and Touch-a-Truck. Officers will also periodically attend events at the request of the public, a neighborhood, or a business or organization. These are on a case-by-case basis. Please fill out a request form.
Jake Laird Community Day
The biggest event of the year is usually Jake Laird Community Day, typically held on National Night Out, which is the first Tuesday in August every year. The event is sponsored by Hamilton County residents Mike and Debbie Laird, the parents of Indianapolis police officer Jake Laird, who was killed in the line of duty on August 18, 2004.
At the event, there are typically demonstrations of police equipment, K9 demonstrations, and information distributed regarding bike safety. Numerous vendors participate and donate items each year to help make it a wonderful event. There are usually inflatable play areas, games, and food for the public to enjoy.
