This project as a cornerstone of Westfield’s downtown revitalization—transforming Park Street into a dynamic, pedestrian-friendly and multi-use corridor while creating a signature public plaza and vital connections to the Midland Trace Trail. This project will upgrade storm drainage and bury powerlines. Park Street will be rebuilt with decorative pavers, and outdoor seating and landscaping.
The project will take place on Park Street, from Poplar to Mill Streets.
The City of Westfield understands that this project will impact businesses within the construction area, and we are committed to minimizing disruptions as much as possible. We are actively exploring ways to support local businesses and encourage customers to continue visiting the area throughout construction.
There will be partial closures throughout the project, but Park Street will remain open with limited access.
We will maintain regular communication with affected business owners and their patrons, providing timely updates on project design, schedules, and construction activities. The project design team brings extensive experience in phasing construction thoughtfully and strategically to respect and support ongoing business operations.
The project will begin in May 2026 and is anticipated to last until December 2026. Contractors will return in April 2027 to finish landscaping work.
Yes, the Midland Trace Trail will remain open and accessible during construction.
