Westfield, IN (November 8, 2024) — Create new winter memories with family and friends in the heart of downtown Westfield at The Ice Ribbon at Grand Junction Plaza (225 S. Union Street). The state-of-the-art synthetic ice ribbon opens for its second season on Saturday, November 23. Tickets for skate sessions are on sale now.

During the season opening celebration, which takes place from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., attendees can enjoy a live DJ, caricature artists and food vendors including DonutNV, Tapestry Coffee, and Almost Paradise Farm.

“The ice ribbon is a great way for families to get outside this winter,” said Mayor Scott Willis. “We can’t wait to see its growth this year, as it serves as yet another fantastic way for our community to come together in the heart of downtown Westfield.”

Skating sessions will run Thursday through Saturday; times can be found below. All skate sessions are 90 minutes in length and reservations must be made online. The ticket price for ages 11 and over is $12 per skate session. For ages ten (10) and under, the price is $10 per skate session. Additional hours will be available during Winter Break. Please note that some skate sessions may vary due to special events. The City is collaborating with the Mayor's Council on Disabilities to provide sensory-friendly activities. Additionally, thanks to a grant from Hamilton County Tourism, the Ice Ribbon will feature two accessible skate sleds for use.

Parking is available west of Park Street and Poplar Boulevard in two parking lots and designated on-street spots on Jersey, Mill, and Park Streets. Accessible parking spaces are available on Mill Street.

The Ice Ribbon at Grand Junction Plaza will feature Glice Eco-Rinks. Glice uses a sustainable skating technology that does not require water or energy and does not produce carbon emissions. Additionally, Glice is involved in a program called Plant for the Planet, a global nonprofit organization focused on reforestation and climate advocacy. For each Glice sheet, a tree is planted in partnership with Plant for the Planet.

The City will hire several seasonal, part-time employees for Ice Ribbon operations. More information can be found at https://tinyurl.com/westfieldemployment.
