City of Westfield Joins AARP Age-Friendly States and Communities Network

Westfield, IN (December 3, 2025) — The City of Westfield has partnered with AARP Indiana as the newest member of the AARP Age-Friendly States and Communities Network. Westfield joins more than 1,000 cities nationwide to earn the distinction and is the ninth community in Indiana to join.

“The City of Westfield is committed to helping older adults stay active and connected with their neighbors and the community as a whole,” said Mayor Scott Willis. “Joining the Network will allow us to learn from other communities, as well as help other communities nationwide experiencing rapid growth like we are. It’s a win-win.”

The City’s intention to join the Network was originally introduced as a proclamation at the October 27 City Council meeting. As part of the AARP Age-Friendly States and Communities Network, the City of Westfield will have access to resources aimed at improving livability for all residents, not just older adults.

By joining the Network, the City of Westfield has committed to a five-year cycle of continuous improvement. This is typically characterized by a 7-step process:

  1. Establish a way to include older residents at all stages of the age-friendly process
  2. Conduct a community needs assessment
  3. Develop an action and evaluation plan based on the assessment results
  4. Implement and work toward the goals of the plan
  5. Assess the impact of implementing the plan and submit progress reports
  6. Share solutions, successes, and best practices across the Network
  7. Repeat
