32 Connects construction begins next month in Westfield
Westfield, IN (March 24, 2025) — On or after Monday, April 7, INDOT contractor Rieth-Riley Construction will close a portion of State Road 32 in Westfield for reconstruction as part of the 32 Connects project. Construction will take place in multiple phases, with all of S.R. 32 west of Union Street and the southern half of S.R. 32 east of Union Street being reconstructed in 2025, followed by the northern half east of Union Street and completion of the roundabout at East Street and S.R. 32 in 2026.

- S.R. 32 closed through early October between Poplar Street and Union Street for reconstruction
- Official detour: U.S. 31 and S.R. 38
- S.R.32/Poplar Street/Shamrock Blvd. roundabout remains open
- Union Street closed from south of Penn Street to north of Jersey Street through late June (includes intersection of S.R. 32/Union Street)
- Official detour: 181st Street/Hoover Street, Sun Park Drive, S.R. 32, Wheeler Road/Westfield Park Drive, and 169th Street
- S.R. 32 remains open east of Elm Alley; traffic shifted north and reduced to one lane each direction between east of Union Street to east of East Street for reconstruction of southern half of S.R. 32
- S.R. 32 closed through early October between Poplar Street and Union Street for reconstruction
- Starting in late June or early July:
- S.R. 32 closed through early October between Poplar Street and west of Union Street for reconstruction
- Official detour: U.S. 31 and S.R. 38
- S.R.32/Poplar Street/Shamrock Blvd. roundabout remains open
- Union Street open to traffic
- S.R. 32 traffic shifted north and reduced to one lane each direction between east of Union Street and east of East Street
- S.R. 32 closed through early October between Poplar Street and west of Union Street for reconstruction
Additional reconstruction work will occur later in 2025 and throughout 2026. Information about future phases is available at 32Connects.com. Work up to this point has included demolition and utility relocation activities.
In addition to reconstruction of S.R. 32 between Poplar Street and Timberbrook Run, the 32 Connects project also includes a roundabout at the intersection of S.R. 32 and East Street, as well as improved pedestrian facilities, crosswalks, signage, and landscaping throughout the corridor. The project aims to improve safety and mobility on S.R. 32 and prepare for future growth. 32 Connects is being completed in partnership with the City of Westfield.
During construction, motorists are reminded to slow down, avoid distractions, and use extra caution when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
