Four New Murals brighten Westfield

Westfield, IN (March 12, 2025) — The City of Westfield is proud to unveil its latest public art initiative, the Artistic Bench Program, made possible by a 2024 Indiana Arts Commission Arts Project Support (APS) grant. This program showcases four vibrantly muraled benches throughout the city, celebrating local artists and enriching public spaces for residents and visitors alike.

The four muraled benches are strategically placed across the city: two at Hadley Park (northwest corner of State Road 32 and Union Street), one along the Monon Trail north of the State Road 32 pedestrian bridge, and one along the Midland Trace Trail near Gray Road. Each bench tells a story through its design, allowing people to sit, reflect, and engage with the artwork as they enjoy Westfield's scenic outdoor spaces.

The collaboration with local artists Andre Parnell, Kathy Garnes, Chris Blice, and various artists from Janus Developmental Services highlights Westfield's commitment to supporting and promoting local talent. Their lively designs bring a fresh artistic dimension to the city's parks and trails, ensuring that art is accessible to all members of the community.

"We are thrilled to bring these artistic benches to life with the help of the Indiana Arts Commission grant," said Kayla Arnold, Director of Communications for the City of Westfield. "These murals not only brighten public spaces but also provide opportunities for our community to engage with art in a meaningful way. We hope these benches inspire conversation and become landmarks that will be cherished for years to come."

The City of Westfield extends its thanks to the Indiana Arts Commission for its generous support through the APS grant, which receives support from the State of Indiana and the National Endowment for the Arts. This initiative not only beautifies the community but also strengthens the cultural fabric of Westfield, providing a lasting impact that will continue to inspire both residents and visitors.
