Westfield receives nearly $1.5m for 2025 road resurfacing
Westfield, IN (December 13, 2024) — The City of Westfield has received a Community Crossing grant from the Indiana Department of Transportation. The grant, totaling nearly $1.5 million, will be used to increase funding for the 2025 road resurfacing program.
Westfield was one of 223 Indiana cities, towns, and counties that received grants. In November, the state awarded nearly $140 million in matching funds to cities, towns, and counties across the state for local road projects through Community Crossings, a component of the Governor’s Next Level Roads program.
"We must continue to prioritize the condition of our infrastructure, particularly our main thoroughfares and neighborhood streets," said Mayor Scott Willis. "Programs like the Community Crossing grant are critical in helping us expand our capacity each year and ensure our roads are properly maintained."
To qualify for funding, the City of Westfield must provide a 50 percent match and have an asset management plan for maintaining existing roads and bridges. According to INDOT, applications submitted were evaluated based on need, current conditions, and impacts on safety and economic development.
Information on the 2025 road resurfacing program will be available in the Spring.
